Dhampir Tips

This is the movie poster for Vampire Academy featuring Rose (Zoey Deutch) and Lissa (Lucy Fry), repectively.

Used:
*Sally Hansen, Petal Pusher (2-3 coats, depending on nail)
*Formula X, Out of Sight
*Unknown, Gold Glitter
*Julie G, Jet Set top coat

I am a HUGE fan of vampire academy by Richelle Mead and with the new Bloodlines novel, Silver Shadows coming out soon I thought it would be a great time to do a simple mani inspired by the two main characters of the series that started Bloodlines, Lissa and Rose. (Or, Roza as Dimitri would say.) So I took the idea from Shadow Kiss, which is the 3rd book in the series of Vampire Academy. In this book they go to court and end up in a spa before leaving. Rose wants to get her nails painted, since she barely has time to do them on her own. So she picks a glittery gold color while Lissa picks a sweet, pale pink. So I decided to combine these two colors into a kind of french tip slightly glitter ombre mani, that I really do like.
To do this I used a makeup sponge for some nails and the dry brush technique for others depending on what I thought was easier.I really LOVE how it came out and I like that both colors are represented on each nail. Also that the gold kind of protect the pink by being towards the top where nails usually chip first, just like Rose always protected Lissa. I know it's quite an abstract way to think about it but I like that this is a simple mani that can be worn everyday and isn't something that screams what it's based off. It takes it and shows it without being totally written.
So anyway I hope you enjoy and have a perfectly polished day!!!!
Also I hope you didn't mind the rant since I would like to do some more of these types of manis in the future.

This is just two coats of Petal Pusher on its own.

Baring it all

Used:
*Orly, Orlon Basecoat (1 coat)

I just wanted to show you what my nails look like without any color. And also how awesome this basecoat is by itself. It makes your nails shiny and fills in any problem area to make them look virtually flawless. I have an older bottle of this basecoat that I got from a friend, so I don't know if the formula is the same but I hope it is because when I run out of this bottle I am going to want to replace it with the same.
I've tried other basecoats like wet n wild's new one and the clear one from LA colors. I like them, especially the LA colors one. But I fill the milkyness of this one just adds an extra umph to the basecoat and makes it perfect. Plus if you did one or two coats it could be a perfect base for a french mani, especially if you like a more natural looking french.
So I hope you enjoy and have a perfectly polished day!!!

Foiled Ikat

Used:
*Sally Hansen, Purple Alloy (2-3 coats)
*So Easy, stripe rite white
*So Easy, stripe rite black
*Sally Hansen I heart nail art pen, Neon Pink

This is my first Ikat mani and I love it!!!! It looks amazing over the color foil as well. And i also have to say that i joined Preen. Me's vip program which is how i was able to get it. And its perfect. And if any of you reading love nail art you should check out their website it has a lot of great looks and ideas all created by users of their site.
I hope you enjoy and have a perfectly polished day!!!

Red Tape Mani

Used:
*Sephora Formula X press pod, Extraordinary
*Sally Hansen Striper, Red
*Sally Hansen, gold studs
*Julie, Jetset quick dry top coat

This was super easy and fun to do! I did still have an issue using the press pod, even though it was my second time using one. I feel like they needed to be made of a lighter plastic so that they would be easier to squeeze and that the top was reusable so that you can cover the brush in between coats.
I then added lines using the red striper which worked amazingly! I also loved the color which is odd for me cause I'm not the biggest fan of red.
After I freehanded the lines I added studs to where the lines intersected on my nails adding a little extra edge to them. And lastly I sealed it with my new favorite top coat!
This top coat is amazing. I've used it about three times and it really does dry fast and work well. And best yet I can do my nails about an hour before bed and wake up without any sheet marks!!!
So I hope you enjoy and have a perfectly polished day!!!

Red Ruffian

Used:
*VS, Room Service (2 coats)
*Wet n Wild, Haze of Love (2 coats)

I really loved the two colors in this mani. Separately they're amazing together they're stunning. It was also really quick and easy to do. I hope you enjoy and have a perfectly polished day!!!

Neon Dots

Used:
*Claire's, Rain Drops (1 coat as a base)
*Sally Hansen, Intense Iris (2 coats)
*Sally Hansen, Petal Pusher
*Sally Hansen, Blue Me Away

I love this neon color by Sally Hansen. I wasn't too sure looking at the bottle but after I put it on I fell in love. It's a bright purple base with a dark pink and bright blue shimmer. It dries with a matte almost suede like finish which I really like and shows the shimmer quite well.
I added the dots in colors similar to the color of the shimmer in the polish to bring them out more. The shimmer doesn't show that well in the photos but its there. So I hope you enjoy and have a perfectly polished day!!!
